How do I photograph weddings?
When it comes to Photographing weddings, I love capturing the more natural moments of the day. Seizing images with the lens that immediately take the bride and groom and their guests back to the moment. Provoking the emotions, they felt in that instant, forever caught in time. The style of my photography is natural, not formal, it’s important to me as a photographer that we all get to be ourselves on the big day.
Sally and Mike choose the charming Casa Nova Estate as the location for their wedding day. They wanted to be surrounded by close family who would have to travel from both the UK and USA. The photographs were an essential part of the day as it would be some time before everyone would be in the same place together again.
I wanted to understand this wonderful couple and the relationship they’ve created together. Sally is American and Mike is English. Sally told me she loves Mike because even though they live 1000’s miles from the USA he always makes her feel at home. Mike loves Sally because she is funny and loves to dance.
Real moments and emotions = meaningful photographs…
I was able to capture the pre-ceremony preparations, highlighting the real smiles and even the butterfly nerves. Working together with Sally and Mike really prepared me for the documentary style wedding album they wanted to create. We carried out the beach shoot in the early evening so we could combine the raw emotion of the day with the fantastic light from the glowing sun.
As the reception and dinner were held in such a stunning location it allowed me to capture relaxed and fun-filled images of both the bride and groom and their families. These are the moments etched into time that become a part of the treasure chest of memories from this unforgettable occasion.
Making sure the three of us were on the same page with the style of photographs was the key to creating a bond of trust, leaving the happy couple to enjoy their day, and me to be confident with my artistic, documentary style of photography.
